US Supreme Court ruled first federal child labor law unconstitutional
On June 3, 1918, the US Supreme Court ruled in
Hammer v. Dagenhart
that the first federal child labor law, the Keating-Owen Child Labor Act, was unconstitutional, falling outside the scope of Congressional authority under the Commerce Clause.
