State Union of Serbia and Montenegro dissolves

On June 3, 2006, the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro formerly dissolved with the latter's declaration of independence. After the dissolution of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 2003, Serbia and Montenegro was born as a union of the only nations that had not departed the Yugoslav federation. In 2006, Montenegro became the last nation of the former Yugoslavia to break from Serbia.
